Inventory & Production

In textile retail the unit of inventory is a piece, not a SKU quantity. Two sarees off the same design are not interchangeable — different zari, different fall, different landed cost. ambar 27 gives every piece a barcode, a design lineage, a movement history and a true landed cost that survives jobwork.

The masters that make reporting possible

Every report you will ever want is decided at master-data time. ambar 27 gives you a category hierarchy four levels deep, plus designs, attributes, attribute combinations, variants, sizes, units, suppliers and warehouses — and bulk updaters to fix all of it when the season changes.

  • Main category, category, sub category and detailed category
  • Design master with design names, gallery images and variant creation
  • Attributes and attribute combinations for colour, weave, border and zari type
  • Size, unit, warehouse, transporter and supplier masters
  • Merge category and merge customers for cleaning up years of drift
  • Bulk category, HSN and price updaters that act on a filtered set

Whitetags and per-piece identity

A whitetag is issued against a design and becomes that piece’s identity for its whole life in the store. Barcode it, price it, move it, test it, alter it, sell it, take it back — every event attaches to the same tag, which is why stock age and margin reports are trustworthy.

  • New whitetag issue with a whitetag planner for forward tagging
  • Whitetag by images for visual verification on the floor
  • Barcode generation, label design and label reprint
  • Item enquiry and stock enquiry by barcode, design or image
  • Inventory log showing every movement of a piece
  • Stock conflict report for pieces whose location and record disagree

Movement: gatepass in, gatepass out

Stock does not teleport between the godown, the floors and the karigars. Inwards and outwards are documents — by barcode, by gatepass or by slip — so at any moment you can say what is in transit, with whom, and against which reference.

  • Inward by barcode, by gatepass and by slip
  • Outwards with gatepass generation and printing
  • All gatepasses register with open and closed states
  • Warehouse-to-warehouse and floor-to-floor transfers
  • E-way bill generation directly against an inward or outward
  • Stock adjustments as an explicit, permissioned document

Karigar jobwork, tracked to the piece

Embroidery, fall and pico, tassels, zari repair — the work that turns a purchase into sellable stock happens outside your building. Jobworks track what went out, to whom, what has come back, and what is still owed to you.

  • Job worker master with per-worker outstanding pieces and value
  • New jobwork, manual jobwork and pickup jobwork flows
  • Open, closed and all-jobworks registers with partial receipt
  • Value additions as a separate document with open / partial / closed status
  • Added cost posted onto the item so landed cost stays correct
  • Value-addition-vs-sales reporting by supplier and by design

Zari testing, because purity is a claim you have to defend

When you sell tested zari, you need the test on record — per piece, per area, with who tested it and when. ambar 27 records zari tests against the barcode with configurable parameters and a full searchable history.

  • Zari parameters master defining what is measured and the acceptable range
  • New test recorded against a barcode and design, area by area
  • Tested-by and tested-on captured automatically
  • Complete zari testing history, searchable by barcode or design
  • Zari test detail reports for disputes and customer assurance

Stock taking that closes cleanly

Physical verification with a scanner, reconciled against the system, with the differences visible before anything is written off. Stock age tells you what has been sitting; stock conflict tells you where the records and the floor disagree.

  • Scanner-driven stock taking with a dedicated scanner app
  • Stock taking reports by counter, floor and warehouse
  • Stock age analysis by category, supplier and price band
  • Stock by category, supplier, warehouse, whitetag and image
  • Stock conflict register for exceptions requiring a decision
  • Purchase-vs-sale and margin views built on the same stock ledger

Reporting

What you can ask of it.

Inventory feeds the reports that decide buying: what is ageing, what is turning, what a supplier is actually delivering, and what value addition is really costing you against what it earns.

Questions

Inventory & Production, specifically

Do you support piece-level or quantity-level inventory?

Both. Pieces that need individual identity carry a whitetag and barcode; consumables and accessories can be held as quantity against a design. Reports respect whichever model an item uses.

What happens to cost when a piece goes for value addition?

The value addition document posts the karigar’s charge onto the item, raising its landed cost. Margin, stock valuation and purchase-vs-sale all use the updated figure, so the profit on that piece is the real one.

Can we do stock taking without closing the store?

Yes. Stock taking runs from the scanner app against a defined scope — a counter, a floor or a warehouse — and reconciles against the system afterwards, so verification can be done section by section.

How do you handle a piece that is with a karigar at year end?

It stays on your books, visible in the job worker’s outstanding list with its value, and appears in stock valuation as stock with third parties rather than disappearing from the count.
